Breast is the best
You’ve heard the phrase ‘breast is the best’ many times over by the time you actually start breastfeeding. And it is true! The best gift a mother can give her newborn baby for a headstart in life is her own milk, made up pf 100% nature’s goodness. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that a newborn baby be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of his life and there are many good reasons for this.

For the baby, mother’s milk contain over 300 ingredients provide his complete nutritional needs. It is free of germs and is full of the mother’s antibodies to protect him against infection. The suckling of milk can also reduce the chances of ear infection and help regulate his heartbeat. The goodness of breast milk can also help his brain develop and increase his IQ. You might have makings of a genius even at this early stage!

The good news for breastfeeding mothers is that it can help them lose weight faster as a result of the 200-300 calories being burned daily through breastfeeding. It also helps to contract the womb quicker so you will be in a better position to regain your pregnancy shape sooner (with the additional help of exercise once you get green light from your gynecologists). And there’s nothing more convenient than feeding from the breast, especially when you are out of the house. There’s no need to wash, sterilize or check the temperature of bottles. And of course, it is free. But probably the most rewarding aspect of breastfeeding is the intimate bonding that develops between mother and child during this period.

Tips for breastfeeding
For successful breastfeeding, you should begin as soon possible after delivery, even within the first hour! But be prepared to feed a demanding baby. A healthy baby will be feeding between 8-10 times a day, which works out to be every 2-3 hours. When your baby needs milk, just feed him according to his demand.

Babies are little individuals who will have their different abilities to latch on properly. It will take some experimenting to discover which position will help your baby feed the most effectively.
